The RS-1 Remote System Control Panels provide a simple way to control AC equipment from one or more locations, using only inexpensive, low-voltage wiring. Limit one per system.

Furman® RS-1 Key Switched Remote System Control Panel

The panel can be easily installed in a single gang switchbox with a minimum depth of 1.5”. Features include a locking key switch and a ”System On” indicator LED. The RS-1 has a maintained contact ”Start ON/OFF Sequence” push-button. The rear of the panel has a circuit board with a full size barrier strip for field wiring connections.

The RS-1 can be used to control the Furman ASD-120 Sequenced Power Distributor, the Power Link, Power Port, Remote AC Controller, the MiniPort Power Relay series, or the PS-8R, PS-8R II or PS-PRO II Power Sequencers, as well as other equipment that needs a switch contact at a remote location.

Furman® PS-REL AC Relay Accessory

Instead of being operated manually like the RS-1, PS-REL has a relay that detects the presence of AC power. In response, closes relay contacts that are wired to a terminal strip. It may be used with any of the Furman products mentioned in connection with the RS-1.

A PS-REL is useful in determining when a certain outlet has come on after a sequenced delay, to extend that outlet's capacity. It may also be used to extend the capacity of the switched outlet found on many home theater receiver/amps. In this way, a wireless remote can turn on the receiver, which in turn powers its switched outlet, which triggers the PS-REL, which then activates a Furman PS-8R or PS-PRO Power Sequencer, MiniPort, or PowerPort system capable of switching many large power amps or other power-hungry equipment in multiple locations.

The PS-REL AC Relay Accessory is designed primarily for use with the PS-8R 15 amp Power Sequencer, the PS-PRO 20 amp Power Sequencer, the PowerPort 20 amp Remote AC Controller, the MiniPort-30 Power Relay (30 amps), MiniPort-20 Power Relay (rated 20 amps), and the MiniPort-15 Power Relay (rated 15 amps).

The PS-REL is simply a small box containing a relay. It functions as a sensor which can close a switch in response to the presence of AC power.

The PS-REL is needed whenever a PS-8R, PS-PRO, PowerPort or MiniPort (or linked chain of PowerPorts or MiniPorts) must be turned on in response to energizing a switched outlet. This occurs frequently in “Home Theater” installations when a switched outlet on a preamp or receiver, (often activated by a wireless remote device), is to be used to power up a large amount of equipment. It allows multiple 15-amp and 20-amp circuits to be controlled from one device.

Today’s overworked, outdated power grid delivers poor quality AC power. When connecting sensitive equipment to regular power outlets, AC noise masks and distorts critical signal information which cripples performance. The PST-8D all feature Furman’s SMP circuit which incorporates Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) and a high current TVZ-MOV to insure that any electronic device (including televisions, projectors, CD-DVD players, or computers) is fed clean, filtered AC power. Conventional AC conditioners employing older technologies leak voltage to circuit ground which can, in fact, aid in damaging sensitive digital circuits such as computer processors. Furman’s new technology, however, never directs voltage to the circuit ground further ensuring the safety of your equipment.

Another feature that is unique to Furman’s SMP circuit is automatic extreme-voltage shutdown. Extreme voltages are statistically the most common, damaging AC event. The Extreme Voltage Shutdown circuit automatically turns off the unit when it is fed 137 volts or higher protecting itself and connected equipment from the extreme voltage.
